Shows and Such.

^^My dream concert: HOT CLUB DE PARIS

Okay people, since the weather's getting nicer and I'm really vying for a good rush of entertainment, I need to go see some shows around here. Maybe a little bit of Winterpills, a native band of Northampton that's playing at the Iron Horse, or Jukebox the Ghost and These United States at Toque Center in Westport. Give me some more options and seriously, I can't go to a concert all by my lonesome ;). Any takers?

On another note, I forgot to tell you guys some major, major news! Well actually some of you already know but regardless.....a few weeks ago I sent an email to my journalism idol, Joel Stein (picture under inspiration on the right side of the page), and I asked him questions about what to do now as a high school student, and if he could possibly check out my own blog and tell me what he thinks. He responded, in his very signature witty self, and all I have to say WOW. It was such a big honor, and really just motivated me even more.

This Saturday, I'm going up to NYC with my parents, and some other people so, be prepared for a lengthly post coming your way.

Catalog of Favored Bands

As an avid seeker of new bands, I'm always looking for some sort of new sound, whether mellow folk, the comeback of garage band grunge, or experimental indie. So I've decided to share a few of my favorite bands and my favorite selections of them with you. Think of it as a spring awakening gift. ;)
Telekinesis - "Great Lakes"
Bombay Bicycle Club - "Sixteen"
Jukebox the Ghost - "Good Day"
Magic Bullets - "Will Scarlet"
Tubelord - "Synthesize"
Sondre Lerche - "She's Fantastic"
Hot Club de Paris - "My Little Haunting"
The Sea and Cake - "The Staircase"
Glasvegas - "Geraldine"
Most of these can be found on the music player to the right. Happy listening.

Visual Nostalgia from the 60's and 70's

(The Graduate)
(Love Story)
Spring break can only mean one thing: pigging out (but still trying to get into those oh so flattering summer clothes), getting new music to load on the iPods, and trying to arrange summer plans. I, however, with the help of my bestie Shannon (of Blonde Chicette) decided to spend a few hours diving into nouveau films of the 20th century.
Love Story (1970) starring Ali Macgraw and Ryan O'Neal was 5 stars all the way, what with its collegiate backdrop and youthful romance, proving to create a tear-jearker for us teenage girls. He may be a complete jerk now but Shannon and I both agreed that Mr. O'Neal was quite dreamy as a Harvard preppie.
The Graduate (1967) also made it up top my facebook favorite movies list this week. Dustin Hoffman's performance as a worrisome college graduate (worrisome because of his future) really gave the new meaning to genius. It also helped that the soundtrack was all by Simon & Garfunkel, providing a very mellow and folk-y sound to the film.
Mandatory songs to add to iTunes:
  • "The Sound of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel
  • "Scarborough Fair" by Simon & Garfunkel
  • "Mrs. Robinson" by Simon & Garfunkel

Miss me, much?

Okay, okay. I know that I haven't been keeping up to par with my posts, like before, but what can I say, I'm busy girl! Here's my agenda for the next couple of days/weeks/months(?).

  • GO SOMEWHERE! I really want to head up to Boston, or maybe even up to Montreal, despite the cold, just to get out of this permanent bubble called: CONNECTICUT.
  • BUCKLE DOWN. I've been feeling really bummed about school, and I realized (with a little bit of advice and perspective from the people around me) that I need to stop beating the dead horse, get off my ass, and do something about it. It's time to say, once and for all, "Screw It." I feel much better, and I intend to make this new idea into a quota for my adolescent life, along with "Carpe Diem".
  • GET READY FOR NEXT YEAR. Some of you may disagree, but come to think of it, junior year is already accelerating closer from the future to the present. I need to prioritize which clubs and activities, and classes I'm going to do.
  • ELIMINATE MY CURRENT DISEASE. aka my head cold that feels more like constant road blockage in my head.
Carpe Diem,
