Visual Nostalgia from the 60's and 70's

(The Graduate)
(Love Story)
Spring break can only mean one thing: pigging out (but still trying to get into those oh so flattering summer clothes), getting new music to load on the iPods, and trying to arrange summer plans. I, however, with the help of my bestie Shannon (of Blonde Chicette) decided to spend a few hours diving into nouveau films of the 20th century.
Love Story (1970) starring Ali Macgraw and Ryan O'Neal was 5 stars all the way, what with its collegiate backdrop and youthful romance, proving to create a tear-jearker for us teenage girls. He may be a complete jerk now but Shannon and I both agreed that Mr. O'Neal was quite dreamy as a Harvard preppie.
The Graduate (1967) also made it up top my facebook favorite movies list this week. Dustin Hoffman's performance as a worrisome college graduate (worrisome because of his future) really gave the new meaning to genius. It also helped that the soundtrack was all by Simon & Garfunkel, providing a very mellow and folk-y sound to the film.
Mandatory songs to add to iTunes:
  • "The Sound of Silence" by Simon & Garfunkel
  • "Scarborough Fair" by Simon & Garfunkel
  • "Mrs. Robinson" by Simon & Garfunkel

Carpe Diem,

Indy
